Tabernacle believes the Church of Jesus Christ is called to be His hands and His heart for the world and the community that surrounds us. With that in mind, we intentionally involve our ministry in doing His work. Following are a list of mission ministries our membership is involved in:
Food for the Soul Freezer – This ministry nourishes the bodies and souls of our congregation and community with home cooked meals. Please help us with this ministry by making homemade casseroles to stock the freezer. Money is available to purchase the ingredients and recipe ideas for inspiration are listed below, Tabernacle simply needs people willing to assemble the casseroles. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 674-2941.

Building Teams – Missioners from Tabernacle typically send a Building Team to Guatemala every January. It’s time to sign up for the experience of a lifetime…a short term mission trip to Guatemala. This year, we are team 6 going to Chavez to work on the sanctuary that was started last spring. Our dates are Jan 15 thru 25. We are aiming for the same fee as last year..$1400 per missioner…depending on final air fare cost. Contact Brad Ehrhardt. For more information, visit the Western NC Conference UMC Volunteers in Mission page or view the 2016 projects booklet.
Food Pantry – Tabernacle has a food pantry for members, referrals from members and those in the community who are in need of assistance with food. For any help, please contact the Church office.
Urban Ministries Food Drive – Twice a year volunteers participate in a food drive at our local grocery store. Shoppers are given a list of items needed for the hungry. They are given the opportunity to purchase them and donate them on the way out. Volunteers are still needed for the Urban Ministry Food Drive at the Food Lion on Randleman Rd on Sat. Oct. 10. for the noon-2 pm and 2-4pm shifts. Please contact Laurie Scotton if you can help!
Hearts & Hands for Christ – An church-wide outreach day held twice a year at Tabernacle (once in spring and once in fall). We gather for breakfast and split into teams to go out into the community. Opportunities for service include building (wheelchair ramps, small home repairs), visitation (home bound and sick members), and service (trash pickup at area schools).
